Candidate for Surrey South

In their own words

This candidate hasn’t listed a campaign website or social account with the Town. That says nothing about them as a candidate — it just means less of their material is published online for us to summarise.

Where they stand

Every candidate in this race is shown against the same 12 issues, in the same order, whether or not we’ve found something for each one. Why we do it this way.

Healthcare

Will there be a doctor, a hospital, and care when we need it?

Cost of living

Can I afford groceries, hydro and insurance?

CentreBC cost-of-living plan aims to save a two-income family ~$640 a year; Sturko says people struggle to afford the basics.

  • Plan would reverse the NDP's 2026 increase to the lowest income tax bracket, to 5.06% from Jan. 1, 2027
  • Raise the renter's tax credit to $600, cap BC Hydro increases, and hold ICBC increases at or below inflation

Economy & jobs

Will BC's economy create good jobs where I live?

Sturko would double the Manufacturing Jobs Fund to $60M for prefab housing, mass timber and B.C. food processing, plus $60M for training.

  • Announcement at a Bridgeview (North Surrey) campaign stop, Oct 9, reported by Peace Arch News
  • New funding streams for companies building prefabricated homes, making mass timber and finished wood products, processing and storing B.C. food
  • Would use lumber for finished products rather than "shipping logs out of the province", with prefab emphasis for housing
  • No prior economy-jobs row for Sturko (her Oct 20 'economy'-slug row uses a shared-taxonomy slug and would fail import — see notes)

“It's part of a suite of funding that will help diversify the economy by investing in value-added projects.”

Education

Will my kids' schools be properly funded?

Keep and fully fund class size and composition limits; add supports.

  • Keep class size and class composition limits in teachers contracts and fund them fully
  • 25,000 permanent new student spaces by 2031
  • Bring back letter grades for Grade 4 and up
  • Add 1,500 education assistants

Transportation

Will the highways, ferries and transit keep up?

Wants more transit investment, incl. 24-hour service in Campbell Heights so sites can run shifts.

  • Calls transit key infrastructure for the economy
  • Cites Campbell Heights industrial park lacking overnight service
  • Made the point at the Oct 20 Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade all-candidates forum
Show their words & source (reported remarks)
“Transit is one of the key parts of infrastructure to ensure our economy is operating correctly. In Campbell Heights, where they don't have service throughout the night, they can't run multiple shifts. If we want to grow our economy… we definitely need to make more investments in transportation.”
