Erin Gauthier

Candidate for Councillor (Ward 1)

In their own words

This candidate hasn’t listed a campaign website or social account with the Town. That says nothing about them as a candidate — it just means less of their material is published online for us to summarise.

Where they stand

Every candidate in this race is shown against the same 16 issues, in the same order, whether or not we’ve found something for each one. Why we do it this way.

Housing

Will I be able to afford to live here?

Erin Gauthier campaigns on affordable housing, downtown revitalization and better roads.

  • Goals: more affordable housing for full-time residents, supporting local businesses, revitalizing downtown.
  • Wants improved roads and infrastructure and opportunities for connection and recreation.
  • Former front-line crisis counsellor; brings listening without judgement and compassion.

Healthcare

Will there be a doctor and a hospital when we need one?

Erin Gauthier wants at least 60 beds and local obstetrics, and rejects the current MAHC model.

  • Supports a minimum of 60 acute-care beds; says South Muskoka deserves equal access to proper acute care.
  • Losing fully functioning obstetrics would completely break her support for the model.
  • Would not commit municipal tax dollars to a plan that leaves South Muskoka behind.
  • Does not believe the proposed model is adequate or equitable.
