Wazhma Frogh

Candidate for Mayor

In their own words

This candidate hasn’t listed a campaign website or social account with the Town. That says nothing about them as a candidate — it just means less of their material is published online for us to summarise.

Where they stand

Every candidate in this race is shown against the same 16 issues, in the same order, whether or not we’ve found something for each one. Why we do it this way.

Housing

Will I be able to afford to live here?

Frogh wants mixed-use neighbourhoods with more housing options near transit, keeping affordability in reach.

  • Complete mixed-use neighbourhoods near jobs, transit, groceries and childcare.
  • More housing options near commercial areas and transit; protect affordability as areas grow.

“I believe Kitchener should plan for more complete, mixed use neighbourhoods where people can live closer to jobs, schools, groceries, childcare, parks, services, and transit. That means allowing a greater range of housing options near commercial areas and transit corridors, encouraging neighbourhood-scale shops and services, and ensuring new developments include safe walking, cycling, and transit connections from the beginning. We also need to protect affordability as neighbourhoods grow, so living close to daily necessities is not limited to higher income residents. Good land use planning can reduce car dependence while giving people a genuine choice in how they get around.”

Roads & infrastructure

Will the things I use every day actually get fixed?

Frogh backs Vision Zero: protected bike lanes, safer crossings, traffic calming and data-driven fixes.

  • Treats preventable road deaths as unacceptable; prioritizes safer street design.
  • Protected bike lanes, better lighting, visible crossings, traffic calming, safer school zones.

“I support a Vision Zero approach that treats preventable deaths and serious injuries on our roads as unacceptable. I would prioritize safer street design, including protected bike lanes, better street lighting and more visible pedestrian crossings, traffic-calming measures, safer school zones, and improvements at intersections with a history of collisions. I would also support using collision and speed data to identify high-risk locations, improving winter maintenance for sidewalks and cycling routes, and working with the Region, police, schools, and community organizations on education and enforcement. As Mayor, I would advocate for transportation decisions that recognize that everyone, whether walking, cycling, taking transit, or driving, deserves to get home safely.”

Environment

Is the candidate protecting the nature we live in?

Frogh would prioritize development where infrastructure already exists and require community climate reviews of new projects

  • Prioritize development in areas where infrastructure already exists
  • New projects should undergo a climate review done by the community, covering insulation, heating, parking and solar panels
Show their words & source (reported remarks)
“It shouldn’t be just the issue of the contractor, city hall and the planning department. It has to include everybody in the community. The climate review of a building should be done by the community themselves. What about the insulation, the heating, parking? Can we [implement], for example, solar panels?”
