“Kitchener has studied municipal clearing of residential sidewalks twice. My concerns with it are efficiency and cost. It would take 48 hours to clear all sidewalks in Kitchener. Sidewalk clearing alone would add 80 to 100 dollars to our property tax. To put that in perspective, the tax increase for the entire budget in 2026 was 29 dollars. The vast majority of sidewalks are cleared quickly and well by residents. We have many neighbours who clear their neighbours sidewalks. Our Bylaw department adds staff in winter months to increase education and enforcement. We also have a sidewalk clearing assistance program for residents who are not able to clear their sidewalks. I would support increasing that program. I would support more promotion of the reasons it's important to clear our sidewalks.”

“I say no, with a proper balanced budget, running and spending within our means and cleaning up the books should allow for next to no tax increases maybe even a cut in taxes.”

“Two of the big things that I think the city currently lacks at council level is actual listening and engagement with the community.”

“Deaths on our streets and roads in Kitchener are unacceptable, and our goal should be to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries to zero. These tragedies are preventable through deliberate engineering, planning, and policy decisions. We know what works. Lowering speed limits, redesigning residential streets, and reducing target speeds in areas with high pedestrian activity can make our roads significantly safer. Measures such as speed humps, raised crosswalks, curb extensions, and shorter pedestrian crossing distances have been proven to slow traffic and protect vulnerable road users. Road safety is a choice. By prioritizing people over vehicle speed, we can create streets that are safer for everyone and prevent needless loss of life”
