“To make daily trips shorter, healthier, and less car-dependent, our municipality must proactively integrate land-use planning with transit and active transportation networks. This means championing complete, 15-minute communities by modernizing zoning bylaws to permit "missing middle" housing, such as townhomes, duplexes, and gentle mid-rise infill—alongside neighborhood commercial amenities like corner grocers, medical offices, and daycare spaces within residential areas. Crucially, we must direct higher-density, mixed-use developments along major transit and rapid-transit corridors while eliminating outdated parking minimums, ensuring that housing growth is paired immediately with convenient transit links, safe cycling grids, and walkable services so residents can meet their daily needs close to home.”

“I support the Vision Zero goal because every resident should be able to walk, bike, or drive safely. As a Councillor, I would listen to residents, identify dangerous areas, and take appropriate action to improve safety through safer crossings, sidewalks, traffic calming, and better lighting. I would also work with police and the Region on speeding and dangerous driving concerns and follow up to make sure these issues are addressed.”

“To fix winter sidewalk clearing, we need to stop treating shovelled walkways as a private chore and instead view them as a core part of our public transit network by having the municipality take direct responsibility for clearing all sidewalks with specialized equipment. Achieving this requires shifting a portion of our transportation budgets from car-centric road maintenance to active mobility, using tiered priority routes to clear high-traffic walkways, school zones, and transit corridors first, and ensuring plow operators clear heavy windrows left at curb cuts. By making this change, we ensure that seniors, parents with strollers, and people using mobility devices are never trapped at home, which finally makes walking a safe and reliable option year-round.”

“As a councillor, I would listen to residents and use collision and traffic data to identify the places in Ward 5 where people are most at risk—especially near schools, parks, crossings and busy neighbourhood streets. I would support practical safety improvements such as better lighting and crosswalks, safer bike connections, traffic calming and street designs that encourage drivers to slow down. I would also push for timely action when residents raise safety concerns, and work with City staff, the Region and police where roads or enforcement involve them. Education matters too, but people should not have to rely on perfect behaviour from everyone to stay safe. Our streets should be designed to protect people, and we should measure progress by whether serious injuries and deaths are going down.”

“I would prioritize safe crossings at major roads, clear signage, good lighting and year-round maintenance. As Ward 5 and the Municipality continues to grow, cycling connections should be considered early in the development and road-planning process rather than added as an afterthought.”
