Candidate for Councillor Ward 6

In their own words

This candidate hasn’t listed a campaign website or social account with the Town. That says nothing about them as a candidate — it just means less of their material is published online for us to summarise.

Where they stand

Every candidate in this race is shown against the same 16 issues, in the same order, whether or not we’ve found something for each one. Why we do it this way.

Housing

Will I be able to afford to live here?

Marentette would support providers like Indwell and House of Hope and pair special constables with social workers to reach housing.

  • Encourage support for supportive housing providers such as Indwell and House of Hope
  • Special constables pilot to utilize teams of social workers and RPNs
  • Help people experiencing homelessness due to mental illness/drug addiction enter stable, supportive housing

Marentette: partner with community organizations on homelessness and climate change.

  • Pillar Nonprofit Network 2026 candidate survey — Q8: Support multi-year funding & longer-term partnerships (Yes/No + why).
“Yes — That would depend on the organization, but there are definitely opportunities for the city to partner with community organizations to tackle complex issues such as homelessness and climate change.”

Marentette: consult sector-specific organizations issue-by-issue, e.g. Indwell on supportive housing.

  • Pillar Nonprofit Network 2026 candidate survey — Q9: Ensuring nonprofits are included in decision-making.
“I think this would need to be approached on a per issue basis. For example, community partners such as Indwell and House of Hope have an important role to play in addressing homelessness, particularly with respect to those who require supportive housing. I believe the best approach is to consult with sector-specific community organizations on an issue-by-issue basis to ensure a broad range of perspectives are heard and that as many stakeholders as possible are looped into discussions.”

Roads & infrastructure

Will the things I use every day actually get fixed?

Marentette supports the 2-hour free parking initiative and cutting parking-lot fees, calling high parking costs a barrier to downtown.

  • Support the 2 hour free parking initiative
  • Support programs to reduce fees charged in parking lots
  • Exorbitant parking expenses are a huge barrier to Londoners enjoying downtown amenities

“Absolutely. I support the 2 hour free parking initiative and would support programs to reduce fees charged in parking lots. London's downtown has wonderful restaurants and shopping as well as great festivals and events - exorbitant parking expenses are a huge barrier to Londoners enjoying these amenities, especially in the current economic climate.”

  • Consumption sites must ensure contact with addictions professionals
  • Controls to ensure needles and paraphernalia do not leave the site
  • Sited to allow access 'without creating a health and safety risk to others'; near a school 'would not be appropriate'

“In order for such a site to work, I believe that those accessing the service must have contact with addictions professionals when using the site, controls should be in place to ensure that needles and other paraphernalia are not leaving the site to ensure they are disposed of properly and that the sites must be located in a place that allows those in need to access them without creating a health and safety risk to others. For example, locating a safe consumption site near a school would not be appropriate.”
