Taxes & spending

What happens to my tax bill, and where does the money go?

Guy Burry emphasizes fiscal accountability, citing his airport corporation work and District budget restraint.

Emphasizes cost-conscious delivery of municipal and District services so the township gets value reflecting residents' contributions.
Founded a municipal services corporation to manage the airport with a goal of eliminating the annual $2,000,000 subsidy; Muskoka Airport Inc. took over July 1, 2025.
Tried to trim the District budget (two motions to cut staff positions worth about $230,000 over two years); wants Township and District road responsibilities rationalized so dollars go into the road, not overlap.

Is the candidate protecting the nature we live in?

Guy Burry prioritizes responsible growth and water quality through updated environmental by-laws.

Managing growth responsibly: carefully planned, long-term development that protects lakes and quality of life.
Protecting water quality: advancing environmental protection measures including updates to Site Alteration, Tree Preservation and Septic Inspection by-laws.
Running again because competing interests in Muskoka mean this is not the right time to change direction on shoreline and water quality protection.

“Given the competing interests in Muskoka now, I want to keep the work already underway moving forward. Shoreline and water quality protection; updating zoning rules; and rationalizing roads to manage municipal tax rate increases are my priorities.”
