Coreen Corcoran

Candidate for Ward 11 Beacon Hill-Cyrville Councillor

In their own words

This candidate hasn’t listed a campaign website or social account with the Town. That says nothing about them as a candidate — it just means less of their material is published online for us to summarise.

Where they stand

Every candidate in this race is shown against the same 16 issues, in the same order, whether or not we’ve found something for each one. Why we do it this way.

Housing

Will I be able to afford to live here?

Spread homelessness resources across the city and meet people where they are

  • Homelessness is an issue across the city, not just downtown
  • Need to spread resources across the city and meet people where they are

“Homelessness is an issue across the city. It is not just a downtown issue, but we continue to push people into that area. We need to spread resources across the city and meet people where they are.”

Taxes & spending

What happens to my tax bill, and where does the money go?

Pull the return-to-office mandate; eliminate the 3-item garbage limit; freeze or remove paid parking downtown

  • Immediately pull the mandate forcing city workers into the office where remote work is an option
  • Eliminate the 3-item limit for garbage; look at freezing prices or removing paid parking in parts of downtown

“Any small initiative to put money back into middle class pockets would be the first step. I would immediately pull the mandate forcing city workers into the office if their job has the option to work from home. Lost hours commuting and paying for transit or parking is hurting families and communities. I would also eliminate the 3-item limit for garbage, and look at freezing the prices or removing paid parking in parts of downtown.”

  • Deliver real value quickly rather than multi-term megaprojects
