“In Kanata South, I hear the same thing again and again: people need a bus they can count on. Before we build the next major project, we need to make the service we already have more frequent, reliable and easier to use. That does not mean putting future LRT on hold. We should keep Stage 3 moving through planning and funding discussions while investing now in buses, BRT and practical improvements that help people get to work, school and appointments. Every expansion should come with a realistic plan to operate it reliably and affordably.”

Erin Coffin's infrastructure vision: Ottawa needs infrastructure that works in people’s daily lives—not just plans that look good on
“Ottawa needs infrastructure that works in people’s daily lives—not just plans that look good on paper. We need to maintain what we already own, restore reliable and frequent bus service, and make practical improvements to roads, bridges, sidewalks, sewers and stormwater systems. Growth must arrive with the infrastructure it requires, and growth should help pay for it. Major expansions, including Stage 3 LRT, need clear evidence, senior-government funding and an affordable operating plan before Ottawa commits. I will push for safe pedestrian connections, targeted congestion relief and infrastructure that can withstand severe weather. Residents should be able to see what is planned, what is funded, what is delayed and what results their money is delivering.”

“Kanata South residents need transportation that works for them, whether they drive, take the bus, walk or cycle. I want more reliable and frequent bus service, better connections to the O-Train and employment areas, and safer sidewalks and cycling routes. We also need to maintain our roads and bridges, address traffic bottlenecks and keep planning for future rail. As councillor, I would work with residents, City staff and OC Transpo to identify what needs fixing and make sure investments deliver real improvements. Residents deserve transportation they can count on and results they can see.”

“I’m open to looking at the idea, but Ottawa should not pay for or study a project of this scale on its own. Any study must involve the provincial and federal governments and answer some basic questions: Would a bypass actually take trucks and through-traffic off our roads? Would it reduce congestion and improve safety? What would it cost, what land would it affect, and is it better value than fixing the roads and transit we already have? A study is not a commitment to build—it is a way to get honest answers before spending public money.”
