Jeffery Adamson

Candidate for Councillor - Ward 17 (Don Valley North)

In their own words

This candidate hasn’t listed a campaign website or social account with the Town. That says nothing about them as a candidate — it just means less of their material is published online for us to summarise.

Where they stand

Every candidate in this race is shown against the same 16 issues, in the same order, whether or not we’ve found something for each one. Why we do it this way.

Housing

Will I be able to afford to live here?

Jeffery Adamson would make it easier and more affordable for homeowners to create safe, legal rental units in their properties.

  • Treat housing as both an affordability issue and a supply issue: pressure on priced-out renters/buyers and on homeowners facing rising mortgage costs.
  • Make it easier and more affordable for homeowners to create safe, legal rental units within their properties, offsetting their costs while adding rental homes.

“Toronto needs to treat housing as both an affordability issue and a supply issue. There are two groups under increasing pressure: people who have been priced out of home ownership or rental housing, and existing homeowners struggling with rising mortgage and household costs. I would create opportunities that help these two groups. The City can make it easier and more affordable for homeowners to create safe, legal rental units within their properties, helping them offset housing costs while adding more rental homes to Toronto lowering costs.”

Taxes & spending

What happens to my tax bill, and where does the money go?

Jeffery Adamson would push a stronger review of City spending, contracts and admin costs while protecting frontline services.

  • City Hall must respect how difficult everyday costs are before asking residents to pay more — demonstrate existing tax dollars are used effectively.
  • Push for a stronger review of City spending, programs, contracts and administrative costs while protecting essential frontline services; look for unnecessary fees to reduce.

“As a priority I would be make sure City Hall respects how difficult everyday costs are for residents. Before asking residents to pay more, Council will need to demonstrate that existing tax dollars are being used effectively. I would push for a stronger review of City spending, programs, contracts and administrative costs while protecting essential frontline services. At the same time, we should look for opportunities to reduce unnecessary fees.”

Emergency services

When I call for help, will it come fast enough?

Jeffery Adamson backs a balanced community-safety approach: lighting, visible transit presence, police-TTC-mental health coordination.

  • Balanced community-safety approach combining prevention with appropriate enforcement.
  • Improve lighting and maintenance in public spaces, respond quickly to threatening behaviour, maintain a visible safety presence on transit, strengthen coordination between police, TTC staff, community organizations and mental-health/addiction services.

“Residents should be able to enjoy parks, transit and neighbourhood streets. I would support a balanced community-safety approach that combines prevention with appropriate enforcement. That means improving lighting and maintenance in public spaces, responding quickly to threatening or dangerous behaviour, maintaining a visible safety presence on transit, and strengthening coordination between police, TTC staff, community organizations, and mental-health and addiction services.”

Transit

Can I get where I need to go without driving?

This candidate has spoken about this issue more than once. Each statement is shown with its own source.

Jeffery Adamson's key focus: the TTC, with execution strength to get projects completed and results delivered.

  • Key focus: TTC.
  • Brings project-leadership experience managing complex initiatives with difficult stakeholders — 'Toronto does not just need more plans, it needs projects completed and results delivered.'
“TTC. My key strength is execution. Toronto does not just need more plans, it needs projects completed and results delivered. I have managed complex initiatives with difficult stakeholders, competing priorities and significant risks. My experience in project leadership and collaboration has taught me how to bring people together, solve problems and keep work moving.”

Jeffery Adamson would make road work and bus lanes more efficient, with flexible off-peak lane use and congestion-reduction plans.

  • Focus on making road work, construction staging and dedicated transit lanes more efficient.
  • Where transit demand is lower (weekends/off-peak), review flexible use of dedicated bus lanes; major City projects must include stronger congestion-reduction plans.
“I would focus on making road work, construction staging, and dedicated transit lanes more efficient. Where transit demand is lower, particularly on weekends or during off-peak periods, I will have the City review whether some dedicated bus lanes can be used more flexibly to improve overall traffic flow without reducing transit reliability. I would push for major City projects to include stronger congestion-reduction plans, using better staging, signal timing, temporary lane configurations and modern traffic technology.”
