Roads & infrastructure

Will the things I use every day actually get fixed?

Amber Louise Culley

Culley backs a shared-responsibility Vision Zero: protected cycling, safer crossings, lower speeds where appropriate.

  • Road safety is a shared responsibility; prevent serious injuries and deaths.
  • Expand protected cycling infrastructure, safer crossings, traffic calming, better lighting.
Show their words & source (a few sentences)
“I would support a Vision Zero approach that treats road safety as a shared responsibility and prioritizes preventing serious injuries and deaths. Kitchener already has localized transportation safety improvements and an active transportation network focused on people of all ages and abilities. I would support expanding protected cycling infrastructure, safer pedestrian crossings, traffic calming, better lighting, and lower vehicle speeds where appropriate. I would also support using collision and near-miss data to identify dangerous intersections and prioritize improvements. Safe infrastructure should work for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, people with disabilities, and drivers rather than placing responsibility primarily on individual road users. This approach would help make walking, cycling, and driving safer while supporting Kitchener’s goal of creating connected and sustainable neighbourhoods.”

Wallis wants network gaps filled and more separated bike paths pushed into the suburbs.

  • Top priority: fill gaps where paths dump riders into traffic.
  • Wants more separated bike paths and expansion into city suburbs.
Show their words & source (a few sentences)
“Lots of things! Most importantly, filling in gaps that currently exist in the network. Ideally, we would entirely remove all instances where you're on a path, thrust into traffic for a bit, and then back on a bike path. I also want more separated bike paths and to expand the network further into the suburbs of the city.”
